I came in for a quick snack on a Saturday afternoon around 4:15pm as I was craving for a cookie. I ordered my cookie at the kiosk as no one was available at the front. I didn't mind. I can tell the kitchen was busy and staff was going in and out. I waited for about 5 minutes for my cookie and went about my day. The cookie was delicious. My go to place for a cookie as a snack!
I love this place. The smell of baking sourdough just heightens the senses. The wait staff was efficient, friendly, but not hovering. I enjoyed a sourdough pizza with sausage and mushrooms. It was fantastic. The soup in the sourdough bowls looked amazing. Just sitting up on the second floor with views of the bay make it a great place to enjoy San Francisco's wharf.
This location is my go to spot, on days that call for carb loading loading. Probably twice a month, comes the urge. The sourdough (MY FAVE!) is splendid. Theirs might be the best in town. I dipped way too many slices tonight, into my broccoli cheddar soup. Very yummy meal. It's wise to come in early in the day, or face potential disappointment. The selections you desire may be out of stock, as they tend to run low or out fairly fast. Especially on the busy weekend. The customer service overall, is swell and there is plenty of seating available. With decent Wi-Fi inside and outside of the restaurant. I'll surely come back again.
Boudin's breads are really good. As well as the desert/treats they sell. Can't go wrong with the clam chowder either. Today I had a breakfast croissant and my daughter had clam chowder. Both very good. I love their app and the free monkey loaf of bread reward is awesome, definitely utilized well by me. Service is good, restaurants clean. And you know what to expect. The foods consistent.
Haven't been here in years. Ordered a small bread shaped like a turtle for the grandkids and received my free birthday cookie. If you join their reward program, you get a free birthday cookie of your choice via online. If ordering online, you go to the left side of the restaurant and wait for your order or check the rack for your order. I ordered for 4:15 pickup but didn't get it til 4;30 since they were busy. The turtle bread is cute but very small ($3.99) The grandkids rather look at it than eat it. LOL. The chocolate chip cookie was soft, chewy, thick and delicious. It was around 4:30 and crowded. The line to order was long and ordering is via the kiosk. It was busy and they could probably use more help on Saturdays. I sense the workers do try their best under the circumstances. Place was almost full inside because it just stopped raining so everyone sat inside.
Haven't been to one of these in a long time. This chain is known for their clam chowder in a bread bowl (I think) and have other items on the menu like sandwiches, salads, etc. I think this was one of the few options of the mall in Walnut Creek that has a fast casual type sit down situation. Or at least the only one I noticed in the center proper (there may be other places along the street). So it doesn't surprise me that it was really busy, especially since we were there while shopping with some family during the holiday season. I think it's one of those places that suffers from 'it's a chain so Yelpers have to score it low' or maybe scores are warranted. But my fam and I had a pleasant experience despite it being really busy. I really don't envy the employees here having to do this day in/day out. That being said, I thought the process was pretty efficient. You either order from a person or one of the kiosks, grab a number, and wait for your food. I personally ordered the clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. I thought it was good. And because it is a chain, you pretty much know what the expect or know what you're getting. We were a fan of this place and it's a fine option for being at this shopping area.
